Atiku Abubakar Critiques Zoning for 2027 Elections

Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President of Nigeria, described the proposal to zone the presidential ticket exclusively to southern Nigeria for the 2027 elections as self-defeating and intellectually dishonest. He warned political actors against pursuing this strategy, emphasizing the need for a realistic approach to building coalitions capable of defeating the incumbent.

Atiku's statements were made through his spokesperson, Olusola Sanni, during an interview. In contrast, Rabiu Kwankwaso, the former Governor of Kano State and leader of the Kwankwassiya movement, declared his support for a southern presidential candidate, indicating his willingness to serve as a running mate to Peter Obi, the former Governor of Anambra State.

Kwankwaso's comments were made during an interview on Arise TV, where he stressed the importance of maintaining national balance and addressing power rotation issues in Nigeria.
