Atiku Abubakar Critiques Tinubu's European Vacation

Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, condemned President Bola Tinubu for his decision to take a three-week vacation in Europe during a time of significant hardship in Nigeria. In a statement released on Sunday, Atiku characterized Tinubu's absence as indicative of a "disturbing vacuum of political leadership," despite there being no constitutional vacuum.

He pointed out that the responsibilities of a sitting president differ from those of a private citizen, contrasting his own travels with the expectations of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Atiku highlighted pressing issues such as rising living costs, food insecurity, high transport fares, and ongoing insecurity, arguing that these challenges necessitate the President's presence in the country.

He noted the dire situation faced by Nigerians, including unaffordable petrol prices and families struggling to afford basic food and transport.
