Imansuagbon Backs Atiku's Subsidy Restoration Plan

Ken Imansuagbon, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and former Edo State governorship aspirant, endorsed Atiku Abubakar's pledge to restore petrol subsidy if elected in 2027. In a statement issued on Saturday in Benin City, he argued that reinstating the subsidy would provide immediate relief to Nigerians facing economic hardship.

Imansuagbon criticized the removal of the subsidy by President Bola Tinubu's administration, claiming it has impoverished citizens and exacerbated inflation. He stated that the removal has not improved living conditions, leading to increased costs in transportation, food, healthcare, and education.

He emphasized that Atiku's willingness to reconsider his previous stance on subsidy is indicative of compassionate leadership. Imansuagbon questioned the government's claims of saving trillions from subsidy removal, asserting that Nigerians have not seen tangible benefits from these funds.

He expressed confidence in Atiku's capability to address the economic challenges facing Nigeria.
