Sultan Urges Action on Nigeria's Security Challenges

The Sultan of Sokoto, represented by Professor Khalid Abubakar Aliyu, highlighted the pressing security challenges in Nigeria, stating that attention is disproportionately directed towards the 2027 general elections instead of addressing these issues. In a statement from the Jama'atu Nasril Islam (JNI), he called on the government to rescue citizens from kidnappers, noting the alarming rise in violence, particularly in the northern regions such as Borno, Bauchi, and the North West.

The Sultan emphasized the need for intensified prayers during Ramadan for divine intervention against insecurity. He also pointed out the growing public agitation for government action, citing protests in various states, including Oyo and Edo, demanding an end to kidnapping and banditry.

The statement concluded with a call for Muslims to increase their recitation of the Quran and engage in charitable acts, particularly during the last days of Ramadan, to support the needy and vulnerable in society.
