Soludo's Wife Urges Igbo Women to Combat Domestic Abuse

During the commencement of the 2026 August Meeting, Dr. Nonye Soludo, the wife of the Anambra State Governor, called on Igbo women to confront the rising cases of domestic abuse and maltreatment of domestic workers.

She highlighted the disturbing increase in violent abuse, neglect, and inhumane treatment of domestic workers, particularly minors. In her message, she urged women to expand discussions beyond traditional community development to include solutions for social and moral crises affecting families.

Dr. Soludo emphasized that every child deserves dignity, compassion, and protection, stating that violence should never be a tool for raising children.

She encouraged women leaders and community stakeholders to focus on child protection, responsible caregiving, and the rights of domestic workers during their deliberations. Furthermore, she stressed the importance of building systems for early intervention and support for victims, asserting that homes normalizing violence risk perpetuating cruelty in future generations.
