Australia to Host Brazil in Double-Header Matches

Australia is set to host Brazil for a double-header of football matches after the FIFA World Cup 2026. The first match will take place in Townsville on September 25, followed by a second match in Brisbane four days later.

The Australian team, known as the Socceroos, is coached by Toni Popovic, who expressed his delight at securing these fixtures, emphasizing the importance of testing the team against top-tier opposition as they prepare for the World Cup. Brazil, a powerhouse in world football, will be managed by Carlo Ancelotti during these encounters.

Historically, the two teams have met 11 times since their first encounter in 1988, with Australia winning once and securing two draws. This initiative is part of Queensland's state government's efforts to position Australia as a premier event capital leading up to the 2032 Olympics.

Brazil is also scheduled to face Japan in Houston on June 29, while the Socceroos will meet Egypt in Dallas on July 3.
