Aweroro Denies Bribery Claims After Shooting Stars Exit

Nurudeen Aweroro, the former coach of Shooting Stars, has denied allegations of bribery following his departure from the club before the 2026/27 season. The club parted ways with Aweroro by mutual consent after he led them to a third-place finish in the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League, securing a spot in the 2026/27 CAF Confederation Cup.

Aweroro challenged anyone claiming he accepted money from players to provide evidence, stating that he only received tokens of appreciation. He mentioned a specific instance with player Qamar Adegoke, who wanted to send him money for support but was advised to donate to fans instead.

Aweroro also revealed that he faced health issues during his tenure, with his blood pressure reaching 169, and acknowledged the support of the club's chairman, Taiwo Lekan-Salami, in seeking medical attention. The coaching shake-up also affected assistant coach Shakiru Lawal and team manager Tammy Tamuno.
