Aweroro, Tamuno, Lawal Leave Shooting Stars by Mutual Consent

Coach Nurudeen Aweroro has departed from Shooting Stars, a Nigeria Professional Football League club, alongside Team Manager Tammy Tamuno and Assistant Coach Shakiru Lawal. Their exit was confirmed in a club statement as being by mutual consent.

Aweroro joined Shooting Stars in July 2022 and leaves after one year, having led the team to a third-place finish in the 2025/26 NPFL season, marking the club's best performance in 27 years and earning a return to continental football. The decision for their departure was reached amicably after discussions between the club and the coaches.

Shooting Stars expressed gratitude for their contributions and professionalism, particularly in achieving the notable league finish. The club has placed other technical crew members in charge while seeking a replacement for Aweroro.

The team is set to play its opening match of the new NPFL season against Inter Lagos on August 28 and will face CS Sfaxien in the CAF Confederations Cup in early September.
