Salisu Yusuf Appointed New Coach of Shooting Stars

Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan officially unveiled Salisu Yusuf as their new head coach for the upcoming 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season. Yusuf, who previously coached the Super Eagles team B, returns to the NPFL after parting ways with Benin Republic club Coton FC in June 2025, where he had a successful stint, leading them to a second-place finish in the Beninese top flight.

The 64-year-old coach has over two decades of managerial experience, starting with Nasarawa United in 2002 and having worked with notable Nigerian clubs such as Kano Pillars, Enugu Rangers, and Enyimba. His appointment follows the departure of Nurudeen Aweroro, who managed the club during the last campaign.

Yusuf's immediate task will be to prepare the team for their opening match against newly promoted Inter Lagos at the Adamasingba Stadium in Ibadan on August 28, 2026. The club aims to build on its previous campaign and challenge for honors in the new season.
