Ogun Governor Urged to Reconstitute Kingmakers' Council for Awujale Selection

Members of the Osugbo Society in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, have called on Governor Dapo Abiodun to reconstitute the kingmakers' council to oversee the transparent and credible selection process of a new Awujale of Ijebuland. During a meeting, concerns were raised about the exclusion of the Osugbo Society in the selection process, leading to calls for proper background checks and transparency.

The society emphasized the need for integrity in the appointment of kingmakers and urged the governor to recognize their role in the council. The 1957 constitution outlining the traditional hierarchy was referenced, highlighting the importance of following due process.

The state government was commended for suspending the selection process to address the grievances and ensure peace in the town.
