Ogun State Government Suspends Awujale Selection Process Amid Security Concerns

The Ogun State Government has halted the selection process for the new Awujale of Ijebuland following security reports and stakeholder feedback. This decision, announced by Ganiyu Hamzat, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, marks the second time the process has been suspended since the death of the former ruler, Sikiru Adetona.

The government aims to maintain public order, protect the integrity of the selection process, and ensure the revered stool's sanctity. The directive includes advising the kingmakers to await further instructions regarding the selection process.
