Baba-Ahmed Rejects Factionalism in People's Redemption Party

Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, the national chairman of the People's Redemption Party (PRP), expressed strong opposition to recent efforts aimed at creating factions within the party, particularly by a group known as PRP Vanguard. During a press conference, Baba-Ahmed rejected the outcomes of the recent national convention, which he described as a sham, and accused certain rival factions of attempting to hijack the party for elitist interests ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He specifically criticized the emergence of a faction led by Abdulmajid Yakubu Daudu, asserting that their actions contravened the party's constitution and ideological foundation. Baba-Ahmed emphasized the legitimacy of the current leadership, stating that the electoral process was conducted in a faultless manner and that there were malicious intentions behind the factional attempts.

He recalled his own history with the party, having joined PRP ten years ago and participated in the primary elections that produced the last presidential candidate from Kano.
