Ondo Couple Sentenced to 14 Years for Baby Factory

Abiodun Ogundeji and Happi Ogundeji were sentenced to 14 years in prison without the option of a fine by the Federal High Court in Akure on February 26, 2026, after being found guilty of operating an illegal baby factory in Ilutitun, Okitipupa Local Government Area, Ondo State. The case, which was initiated in January 2014, involved a detailed investigation led by the Nigerian Immigration Service and NAPTIP.

Comfort Agboko, the NAPTIP Lagos Zonal Command head, disclosed that the couple detained underage pregnant girls against their will, awaiting delivery for the purpose of selling their babies. During the investigation, various items were uncovered, including hospital cards, cash amounting to N4 million, and properties.

The court also ordered the forfeiture of eight cars and two bungalows linked to the couple's criminal activities. This landmark judgment serves as a strong deterrent against human trafficking in Nigeria.
