Arepo Traders Demand Road Repairs to Boost Sales

The condition of Pipeline Road in Arepo, Ogun State, is severely affecting local businesses, as traders and artisans report a decline in customer patronage due to excessive dust, flooding, and difficulty accessing their shops. A foodstuff seller, who has operated in the area for over 11 years, noted that the road's poor state discourages customers, leading them to use alternative routes like Journalists Estate Road.

Ruth Iwegbu, a Point of Sale operator and shoe seller, stated that the road has been in disrepair throughout her 13 years in Arepo, impacting her ability to attract customers. She mentioned that residents previously collaborated to grade the road every December, but this practice has ceased for the past two years.

A cobbler named Ola, in business since 2008, echoed similar concerns, highlighting that customers often complain about the road conditions during rainfall. He noted that an attempt to rehabilitate the road was abandoned due to pipeline concerns.

Business owners are appealing to the government for road rehabilitation efforts.
