Karanla Residents Urge Ogun Government to Fix Roads

Residents of Karanla community, located in the Mowe area of Ogun State, have expressed their frustration over the deplorable condition of their roads, which have been neglected for more than 20 years. During a visit on Monday, residents and motorcycle operators struggled to navigate the deteriorated roads, which are covered in dust and uneven surfaces.

The situation becomes particularly dire during rainfall, making movement difficult for residents and motorists. Commercial motorcyclist Saheed stated that riders often avoid the area due to the road conditions.

Community leader Mukaila Jimoh, who is over 80 years old, noted that both major routes linking Karanla to Mowe and Lotto are in poor condition, worsening over the years despite residents' participation in elections. Another motorcyclist mentioned that transport fares increase during rainy periods due to the risks involved in navigating the bad roads.

In response, Kayode Akinmade, the Special Adviser to the Ogun State Governor on Media and Strategy, stated that the government is investing in road infrastructure across the state.
