Ogun Residents Demand Urgent Repairs for Agbado-Ijoko Road

Residents of communities along the Agbado-Ijoko Road in the Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State have lamented the road's deplorable condition, which has crippled businesses and disrupted transportation. The road has remained in a poor state for over 15 years, with a 13-kilometre stretch connecting Agbado Oja to Abule-Ijoko collapsing in parts, making some sections impassable.

Observations during a recent visit revealed abandoned sections, mud-covered areas, and potholes, with stagnant floodwater affecting accessibility. Jamiu Raimi, a resident of Itoki for 20 years, noted that travel times have increased from 10 minutes to over an hour due to the road's deterioration.

He mentioned that the scarcity of buses has forced residents to rely on motorcycles, which are unsafe given the road conditions. Raimi also indicated that the situation has impacted the rental market, with some residents leaving and potential tenants hesitant to move in.

He urged the government to rehabilitate the road, highlighting the adverse effects on daily commutes and local businesses.
