Bauchi Governor Bala Mohammed Considers Leaving PDP

Bala Mohammed, the Governor of Bauchi, indicated a possible departure from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) due to ongoing internal crises and feelings of being unwelcome within the party. His remarks were made on Tuesday following a meeting with a delegation from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), led by former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal.

Mohammed expressed that despite efforts to reconcile factions within the PDP, the situation remains untenable, prompting discussions about a potential move to the ADC. He emphasized the need for a platform that can unify opposition forces ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Additionally, he criticized Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike for contributing to the PDP's internal issues. Mohammed's final decision regarding his political future is expected to be announced on Thursday after consultations with key stakeholders.

Lawal noted that the ADC aims to strengthen opposition unity in preparation for the upcoming elections.
