Bala Mohammed to Exit PDP Within One Week

Bala Mohammed, the Governor of Bauchi State, is expected to announce his departure from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) within one week. This decision follows ongoing consultations with various political parties due to a protracted crisis within the PDP, exacerbated by a Supreme Court ruling that voided the party's national convention held in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Mohammed has expressed his acceptance of the Supreme Court's judgment in good faith. He has been in discussions with the African Democratic Congress (ADC), led by former Secretary to the Government of the Federation Babachir Lawal, and has also met with President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) national chairman Nentaw Yilwatda.

Mohammed has accused Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike of fueling the PDP crisis and weakening the party. He has urged supporters to remain calm and assured them of opportunities in upcoming elections, indicating he will not contest for the presidency but may seek the Bauchi South senatorial seat.
