Bala Mohammed's Defection to APC Fails Amid Disagreements

The planned defection of Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) has collapsed following disagreements over a proposed power-sharing arrangement. Reports indicate that the APC rejected a 60-40 formula that would have allowed Mohammed's faction to retain major control over the party machinery at the ward and state levels.

Sama Ila Burga, the chairman of the Turaki-led PDP faction in the state, stated that the APC was unwilling to accommodate the governor's structural demands. Despite the failure of these discussions, it was noted that Mohammed's camp is signaling an openness to align with other political party factions and is exploring options beyond the APC.

Consultations are ongoing at various levels to address the situation, as Burga and his faction aim to resolve the matter formally.
