Bauchi Governor Bala Mohammed Defects to APM from PDP

On Saturday, Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed announced his defection from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Movement (APM). This decision follows a period of speculation regarding his political future amid ongoing crises within the PDP, which he described as "headless." Mohammed's move is seen as a strategy to weaken the PDP and potentially trigger an exodus of loyalists, thereby reducing its grassroots support.

He expressed respect for the recent Supreme Court judgment regarding PDP leadership disputes, stating that it does not signify victory for any individual. Mohammed has confirmed his intent to contest the Bauchi South senatorial district seat in the 2027 general elections and indicated that he consulted alternative political parties before making this decision.

He also accused Nyesom Wike of working against the PDP, linking him to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
