Bala Mohammed Leaves PDP; Seyi Makinde to Follow

Bala Mohammed, the governor of Bauchi State, announced his exit from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) on Saturday, citing serious consultations with political stakeholders and the Supreme Court's judgment regarding the party's leadership disputes. This judgment has left the PDP without a clear legal organization.

Seyi Makinde, the governor of Oyo State, is also preparing to leave the PDP, instructing his party aspirants not to obtain forms for the upcoming elections. Both governors are the last remaining PDP governors following a series of defections that have weakened the party's hold on electoral offices nationwide.

Mohammed expressed appreciation for the PDP's role in his political journey but emphasized the need for a credible political platform, leading him to join the Allied People's Movement (APM). He outlined measures for a smooth transition, including establishing a compliance committee and engaging with APM leadership.

The PDP is facing internal challenges, further complicating the political landscape.
