Luis Diaz Names Harry Kane as Top Ballon d'Or Candidate
In a recent interview with ESPN, Colombian international Luis Diaz, who plays for Bayern Munich, identified his teammate Harry Kane as the leading candidate for the 2026 Ballon d'Or. Diaz expressed his hope for Kane to win the award, stating, “For me, he [Kane] is the number one candidate to win it [the Ballon d’Or].” Kane has been recognized for his outstanding performances for both club and country, earning him a spot among the 30 players shortlisted for this year’s award.
He faces significant competition from Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal and Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappe. The winner of the Ballon d'Or will be announced in October.
Last year, the award was won by Ousmane Dembele, who plays for Paris Saint-Germain.
