Bamanga Tukur's Death: A Major Loss for Nigeria

Chief Olabode George, the former deputy national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), expressed profound sorrow over the death of Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, who was the former national chairman of the PDP and passed away on Saturday in Abuja, just three days before his 91st birthday. Tukur was buried on Sunday in Yola, Adamawa state.

George, who worked closely with Tukur at the highest levels of the party, described him as a confidant and a patriotic stakeholder whose influence extended beyond geographical boundaries. Tukur served as the national chairman of the PDP from 2012 to 2014 and was recognized for his contributions to Nigeria's political and economic development.

He also played a significant role in African enterprise through his leadership of the Africa Business Roundtable and the NEPAD Business Group. Additionally, Tukur was the General Manager and Chief Executive of the Nigerian Ports Authority from 1975 to 1982, during which he expanded critical maritime hubs like Apapa Port and Tin Can Island.
