Obasanjo Mourns Tukur, Calls Him a National Colossus

Former President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo expressed profound sorrow over the passing of Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, the former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who died on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at the age of 91. In a statement released by his Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Akinyemi, Obasanjo described Tukur as a patriot whose life exemplified unwavering commitment and stellar public service.

He noted Tukur's extensive career, which included leadership roles at the Nigerian Ports Authority, as the civilian Governor of the defunct Gongola State, and as Minister of Industries. Obasanjo emphasized Tukur's dedication to national productivity and progress, as well as his role as an institutional pillar during challenging political times.
