Bamidele Commits N1bn for Iyin-Ekiti University Research

During the matriculation ceremony of the newly established Federal University of Technology, Environment and Science (FUTE) in Iyin-Ekiti, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, representing the Ekiti Central Senatorial District, promised an annual donation of N200 million over the next five years, totaling N1 billion for research funding. The event, held over the weekend, marked a significant milestone in the university's establishment, which currently comprises three faculties: Medicine, Pharmacy, and Nursing.

Senator Binta Garba, the chairman of the university's council, encouraged students to take pride in their institution and envision a better future. Vice Chancellor Professor Gbenga Aribisala emphasized a zero-tolerance policy towards indiscipline, drug abuse, sexual misconduct, and secret cult membership.

He also highlighted the need for Nigerian support through public-private partnerships to equip laboratories, workshops, and libraries. The university has started its academic activities with 1,564 students across 36 departments within less than a year of its establishment.
