FUTES Celebrates Maiden Matriculation with N1bn Research Fund

The Federal University of Technology, Environment and Science (FUTES) in Iyin Ekiti celebrated its maiden matriculation ceremony, welcoming 1,564 pioneer students. Vice Chancellor Prof.

Gbenga Aribisala described the event as a defining moment for the institution, which has already commenced full academic activities across 36 departments and four faculties. He emphasized the importance of discipline and declared a zero-tolerance stance on drug abuse, sexual misconduct, and cultism.

The university seeks partnerships with Nigerian corporate bodies to address urgent infrastructural needs, including modern laboratories and a library complex. President Bola Tinubu's assent to the bill establishing the university was acknowledged, along with support from Senate leaders such as Opeyemi Bamidele and Binta Garba.

Bamidele pledged an annual grant of N200 million for five years, totaling N1 billion for research activities. The ceremony featured welfare packages for students and staff, marking a robust start for the institution's academic and research ambitions.
