Kebbi Government Reinforces Security After Bandit Attack

In response to a deadly bandit attack in Wasagu District, Kebbi State Government dispatched a high-powered delegation led by Deputy Governor Senator Umar Abubakar Tafida on Saturday. The attack occurred in Unguwan Duts, where armed men, suspected to be bandits, invaded the community, killing two individuals, injuring several others, and abducting six residents.

The delegation, sent by Governor Nasir Idris, aimed to convey condolences to the affected families and assure the community of renewed government efforts to strengthen security in the area. Immediate security reinforcement measures were announced, including the deployment of a mobile police barrack to the district and plans to establish a forward operating base to enhance rapid response operations and improve surveillance in vulnerable communities.

Deputy Governor Tafida urged residents to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies. Chief Wasagu Alhaji Mukhtar Musa Muhammad expressed concerns over the rising insecurity in the district, particularly along the border with Zamfara State.
