Kebbi Governor Reviews Security After Bandit Attacks

Following a resurgence of bandit attacks in Kebbi State, Governor Nasir Idris has ordered an immediate review of existing security strategies. This directive was issued during an emergency security meeting held at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi, attended by top security officials, including the Brigade Commander and the Commissioner of Police.

The governor expressed particular concern over the activities of the Lakurawa faction operating in Wasagu Chiefdom, part of the Argungu Emirate. The meeting aimed to strengthen response efforts and protect residents and property.

A high-powered delegation led by Deputy Governor Umar Tafida was dispatched to assess the situation on the ground and consult with community leaders. The governor reaffirmed the administration's commitment to ending banditry and restoring peace, announcing plans to support security agencies with logistics and manpower, including training thousands of youth for community security operations.

Recommendations were made to the State Security Council and the Federal Ministry of Defence to address the ongoing security challenges.
