A significant military operation, dubbed "Oper Fansan Yanma," was conducted in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State on Saturday, resulting in the deaths of several bandits, including Ado Alero's biological son, Iliya Sarki. Captain David Adewusi, the military spokesperson, confirmed the operation via telephone interview, stating that troops launched a heavy assault on the bandits' camp, leading to significant casualties among the bandit ranks. Although the exact number of casualties has not been officially confirmed, reports indicate that at least 65 fighters were killed during the operation, which also involved precise airstrikes. Alero reportedly mobilized around 300 motorcyclists to reinforce his group, but they were overwhelmed by superior military firepower. The military is intensifying efforts to track down fleeing members of the group to prevent potential reprisals against vulnerable communities. The operation aims to dismantle the remaining cells linked to the bandit leader.
