Senator Buba Challenges Investigation into Banditry Claims

Senator Shehu Buba Umar, representing Bauchi South Senatorial District and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Livestock and Animal Husbandry, has publicly challenged security agencies to investigate allegations linking him to banditry, terrorism financing, and kidnapping. Speaking at a press conference in Bauchi on September 14, 2026, he stated he is ready to face prosecution if found culpable.

Buba, also the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) governorship candidate for Bauchi State in the 2027 election, emphasized that he has voluntarily submitted himself to scrutiny, asserting he has nothing to hide. He explained that previous interactions with military and intelligence agencies were misconstrued and aimed at addressing national security issues.

Buba disclosed that his lawyers submitted documents to security authorities, including a September 7, 2026 petition for Interpol intervention. He insisted on an independent investigation and stated that if credible evidence of his involvement in criminal activities is found, he will accept the consequences.

He also mentioned taking legal action against individuals spreading false allegations against him.
