Senator Shehu Buba Denies Terrorism Allegations

Senator Shehu Buba, representing the South Senatorial District, has publicly rejected allegations connecting him to banditry, describing them as part of a coordinated effort to tarnish his reputation. In a statement released on Sunday, he addressed claims made by content creator "D English Alhaji," who alleged that bandit kingpins visited Buba's home.

Buba stated that these allegations began on September 15, 2024, following a militia group's violent actions in Bauchi State. He condemned the killings of two charcoal sellers and visited their families.

Buba accused Bauchi State Commissioner for Internal Security, Abubakar Bununu, of linking him to banditry without basis. He denied knowing Yahaya Ibrahim, an aide allegedly involved in sponsoring a bandit for the 2024 Hajj.

Buba filed a defamation suit (CV/413/2024) and reported extortion attempts related to videos recorded by a young man he had supported. On October 30, 2025, five suspects were arraigned in Abuja on various charges, with the next hearing set for September 29, 2026.
