Senator Buba Umar Ready for Probe Over Terrorism Allegations

On Monday, Senator Shehu Buba Umar, who represents Bauchi South Senatorial District, held a press conference in Bauchi to address allegations of terrorism financing against him. He stated he was prepared to cooperate with security agencies, asserting he had nothing to hide.

Buba Umar described the allegations as politically motivated, originating from a smear campaign in 2024, which he had previously debunked and legally challenged. Despite his efforts, he claimed the allegations persisted and escalated.

He firmly denied any involvement in banditry, terrorism, or kidnapping, emphasizing the seriousness of the claims and their impact on his reputation and national security. He announced that he had voluntarily submitted himself to the Department of State Services for a comprehensive investigation and requested that credible evidence against him be presented.

His legal team, led by former NBA President Yakubu Chonoko Maikyau, is involved in this process to ensure a thorough inquiry.
