HURIWA Lauds Uba Sani for Recovering Farmland in Kaduna

The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) praised Governor Uba Sani for the recovery of more than 500,000 hectares of farmland previously controlled by bandits in Kaduna State. In a statement issued on Tuesday by National Coordinator Comrade Emmanuel Nnadozie Onwubiko, HURIWA described this recovery as a major milestone for security, humanitarian efforts, and economic revitalization, which could restore livelihoods for thousands displaced by insecurity.

The association emphasized the need to restore access to communities and farmlands affected by banditry, highlighting the broader consequences of such occupations, including disrupted food production and weakened local economies. HURIWA urged Governor Sani to ensure that the recovered lands are returned to their rightful owners and called for a comprehensive “recover, restore and rebuild” program to assist displaced residents.

Additionally, the association recommended providing adequate security and essential services to returning communities and supporting farmers who have lost productive years due to insecurity.
