Police Launch Manhunt for Abducted Clerics in Zamfara

On September 12, 2026, at approximately 11:30 a.m., six Islamic clerics were abducted by armed bandits along the Dakko-Damri feeder Road in the Bakura local government area of Zamfara State. The clerics were en route to a meeting with Senator Abdulaziz Yari, the director general of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Campaign Council, when their vehicle was intercepted by gunmen.

The assailants, armed with sophisticated weapons, ambushed the vehicle, forcing the clerics out and taking them into the nearby bush. In response to the incident, the Zamfara State Police Command, represented by Public Relations Officer DSP Yazid Abubakar, deployed tactical teams for a coordinated rescue operation.
