Bandits Detonate Explosives, Destroy Babana Bridge in Niger

In the early hours of Monday, bandits launched a coordinated attack on the Babana Bridge in the Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State, detonating explosives that resulted in the destruction of this vital infrastructure. The attack, reported around 5:00 AM, aimed to disrupt activities at the popular Babana Monday border market, which attracts traders and buyers due to the relatively low prices of goods.

The explosions also occurred at multiple locations, including Rasfingiwa, Babana, Woro, and Kaiama, raising concerns about the scale of the coordinated assault. Although no casualties were confirmed at the time of the report, residents in the affected areas were gripped by fear and uncertainty.

Alhaji Moham Nasir Abdullahi, the chairman of the Borgu Local Government Area, confirmed the incident and stated that state authorities were assessing the extent of the damage. Efforts were underway to verify the situation, and police authorities had yet to officially confirm the details of the incident.
