Eight Killed in Niger Terror Attack, Major Bridge Destroyed

On Monday, eight individuals were killed when suspected terrorists detonated an improvised explosive device along Luma Road in the Borgu Local Government Area of Niger. The attack, which occurred around 5 AM, resulted in the destruction of a major bridge that connects Luma to Babana and Agwara, effectively cutting off vital routes for residents.

This disruption particularly affected access to the Babana border market, which is held every Monday, leaving residents stranded and impacting economic activities in the area. Additional explosive devices were reportedly detonated across several locations in the region.

Alhaji Moham Nasir Abdullahi, the state chairman of the Borgu Local Government Area, confirmed the incident and stated that officials had already been deployed to assess the situation.
