Terrorists Bomb Niger Bridge, Disrupting Local Trade

On March 23, 2026, at approximately 2:00 AM, terrorists bombed a bridge linking Luma, Babana, and Agwara communities in Niger State, utilizing an improvised explosive device. This attack is believed to be an attempt to undermine security operations in the area, particularly those related to Kainji National Park.

The spokesperson for the Niger State Police Command, Wasui Abiodun, confirmed the incident, noting that the destruction of the bridge would disrupt activities in Babana, a major border market that operates every Monday. Residents have reported experiencing repeated attacks in recent times.

Additionally, there were reports of a commercial vehicle carrying eight passengers being affected by another explosive device, resulting in fatalities among the occupants. The police spokesperson did not comment on the casualties from this incident.
