Bandits Abduct 15 Pupils from Kogi State Orphanage

On Sunday night, April 26, 2026, around 10:30 p.m., bandits invaded an orphanage in Kogi State, abducting 15 pupils. The attack caused panic in the quiet community as residents reported hearing gunshots.

Kingsley Fanwo, the proprietor's wife, confirmed the incident, which was condemned by the Kogi State Government as unfortunate. The government issued a statement on Monday, emphasizing the need for regulatory compliance among orphanages and schools to ensure safety.

The Nigeria Police Force, alongside other security agencies, responded promptly to the incident, leading to ongoing rescue efforts. Previously, on the same date, gunmen had abducted 23 pupils from the same premises.

The Kogi State Government expressed concern over the proliferation of unregistered schools and orphanages, highlighting the risks they pose in the current security climate. Efforts to reach the Kogi State Police Command for an official statement were unsuccessful.
