Bandits Kill 15 in Katsina Amid Peace Agreement Tensions

In a tragic incident in Katsina, bandits killed 15 people during an attack that followed earlier confrontations with local vigilantes. The violence erupted in Jibia, where local government officials reported that the attack was triggered by a dispute over cattle believed to be stolen.

The confrontation involved local security operatives and resulted in the deaths of three suspected bandits. This incident marks a significant setback for the peace efforts in the region, which had been enjoying a period of stability due to negotiations with repentant bandits.

Dr. Nasir Mu Azu, the state’s Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, confirmed the incident, while DSP Sadik Aliyu of the Katsina State Police emphasized the importance of swift security interventions to prevent further loss of life.

Security personnel from the Nigerian Police Force, Department of State Services, and local community leaders were deployed to restore calm in the area.
