Bandits Kill Three in Katsina Village Attack During Ramadan

On Tuesday, a bandit attack occurred in a village in Katsina State, resulting in the deaths of three residents and the looting of several shops. The incident took place shortly after 6:00 PM, coinciding with a Muslim gathering to break the Ramadan fast.

Approximately 20 gunmen arrived on motorcycles, storming the village and shooting intermittently, which forced residents to flee their homes. The attack reportedly involved the bandits riding along the main road, firing their weapons and returning to loot shops.

Among the victims was a man who had recently returned from Lagos, shot at the entrance of the town while sitting in a welder's workshop. Another victim, believed to be deaf, was shot while attempting to escape.

The deceased included two married men, whose bodies were buried the following morning. The sudden attack caused widespread panic, with residents prioritizing their safety.

A short video of the attack circulated on social media, showing the gunmen firing in the streets. Abubakar Aliyu, a police spokesperson for the state command, confirmed that some injured victims were treated locally, while others were taken to a hospital in Katsina.
