Bandits Kill 17 Farmers in Zamfara Attack

On Friday, armed bandits attacked farmers in Goran Namay Village, Maradun Local Government Area, Zamfara State, resulting in the deaths of 17 farmers and injuries to several others. Ibrahim Moham reported that the attack occurred while farmers were engaged in agricultural activities, despite earlier warnings issued to residents about potential attacks during the planting season.

The bandits, described as a large group, invaded the farmland and opened fire, leading to immediate fatalities and injuries. The victims were later given a mass burial, while the injured were taken to a hospital in Talata Mafara for treatment.

Maharazu Salisu, a member of the Zamfara State House of Assembly, condemned the attack and urged both federal and state governments to take urgent measures to address the worsening insecurity in the area. He warned that continued attacks would discourage farming activities, exacerbating food insecurity in the state and the region.
