Bandits Kill Four Farmers, Abduct Twelve in Sokoto Attack

On Tuesday, armed bandits attacked farmland on the outskirts of Gandi in Sokoto, resulting in the deaths of four farmers and the abduction of twelve others. The attack occurred around 11 AM while the victims were working in the fields.

Malam Tukur Muhammad confirmed the incident, noting that the area has been plagued by persistent insecurity, leading to abandoned farms. Residents reported that the attack was not discovered until 11 AM, and they live in constant fear due to frequent attacks by armed groups.

A member of the Sokoto State Community Guard Corps, who requested anonymity, confirmed the identities of the twelve abducted individuals. Following the attack, security sources disclosed that troops from the Fansan Yamma station successfully rescued seven of the kidnapped victims and recovered two motorcycles during an engagement with the bandits.

Civilian casualties included individuals sustaining gunshot wounds during the exchange. Ahmad Rufa, a spokesperson for the Sokoto State Police Command, stated that they were not yet aware of the incident but promised to contact the police division in charge of the area for further details.
