Four Farmers Killed, 12 Abducted in Sokoto Attack

On Tuesday, a violent attack in Ghandi District, Rabah Local Government Area, Sokoto State, resulted in the deaths of four farmers and the abduction of at least 12 others. The incident occurred around 11 AM while the victims were working on their farmland.

Malam Ibrahim Umar confirmed that the attack took place near the farmland, which has been a recurrent target due to ongoing security threats. Eyewitness accounts suggest that the attack may have begun around 9 AM but was not discovered until later.

A member of the Sokoto State Community Guard Corps, who requested anonymity, reported that 12 individuals have been identified as abducted. This incident follows recent military operations aimed at dismantling bandit networks in Sokoto, Kebbi, Katsina, and Zamfara states.

However, communities in eastern Sokoto, particularly Rabah, Sabon Birni, and Goronyo, continue to face threats from attacks, kidnappings, and cattle rustling, forcing farmers to abandon their agricultural activities during the rainy season. The Sokoto State Police Command has yet to issue an official statement regarding the attack.
