Bandit Attack in Katsina: One Dead, 31 Abducted

On Saturday night, a bandit attack in a Katsina community resulted in one death and the abduction of 31 individuals. The attackers, who arrived in large numbers, operated under the cover of darkness for several hours, shooting indiscriminately and searching homes for livestock and valuables.

Residents reported that the assailants gathered the abducted individuals at the village center before taking them into the bush. Aminu Magaji, a resident, described the panic created by the attackers, while Garba Hassan Shuwaki, who relocated due to ongoing insecurity, noted the increasing frequency of such attacks.

Community leader Guga Muhammad stated that despite distress calls made during the incident, security personnel could not respond promptly due to fears of ambush. This incident raises concerns about the effectiveness of security measures in northern Bakori, especially following a recent peace agreement with some bandit groups.

The attack follows a similar incident in the neighboring Guga community, where members of the Civilian Joint Task Force were killed.
