Bandits Kill Three, Kidnap Catholic Priest and Imam in Kaduna State Attack

In Kaduna State, Nigeria, a fresh wave of violence hit on a Saturday when suspected bandits abducted a Catholic priest, Reverend Father Nathaniel Asuway, and 10 others, while killing three residents in an early morning attack on Karku community in Kauru Local Government Area. The Chief Imam of Janjala Central Mosque, Bello Abdullahi, and a Fulani community leader, Shehu Bello, were also kidnapped during an attack in Kagarko Local Government Area.

The Catholic Archdiocese of Kafanchan confirmed the kidnapping of Father Asuway. The Chancellor of Kafanchan Diocese, Jacob Shanet, expressed deep sorrow over the incidents and called for prayers for the safe release of the victims.

The Chairman of the Northern Christian Association of Nigeria, Rev. Joseph Hayab, described the attacks as grim reminders of the worsening security situation in the region.

The Kaduna State Police Command is actively engaged in efforts to address the security challenges.
