Bandits Kill Health Officer, Five Others in Zamfara Attack

On a Thursday, armed bandits attacked Yarkatsinan Laka Community in Bungudu Local Government Area, Zamfara State, resulting in the deaths of a health officer and five other individuals. The assailants, described as a large number of armed bandits riding on 50 motorcycles and carrying sophisticated weapons, invaded the primary health center and set it ablaze.

The Zamfara State Police Command, represented by spokesperson DSP Yazid Abubakar, reported that their strike unit responded swiftly, engaging the assailants in a gun duel. This confrontation led to the neutralization of 11 armed bandits, while several others escaped with gunshot injuries.

Tragically, during the exchange of fire, two police personnel and three civilians lost their lives. The police officers who sustained injuries are currently receiving treatment and are reportedly responding positively.

The police have called on the public to continue supporting security agencies to enhance their effectiveness.
