Bandits loyal to Bello Turji abduct 16, shoot 3 in fresh Sokoto attack

Armed bandits, reportedly loyal to notorious kingpin Bello Turji, abducted 16 residents and shot three individuals in a recent attack in Garki village, Sokoto State. The incident was revealed by security analyst Zagazola Makama.

The attackers, led by a senior lieutenant of Turji known as Kallamu, invaded the community, killing one person, rustling livestock, and causing fear among the residents. Despite ongoing peace talks, the Turji group continues to carry out attacks, raising concerns about the reliability of their leadership.

Security sources believe that Turji's network remains active in the Isa, Sabon Birni, and Goronyo areas, with fighters involved in trafficking between Nigeria and Niger Republic. The attack highlights the gang's ability to regroup, resupply, and expand their influence despite purported peace negotiations.
