Bandits Attack Katsina Community, Father and Son Injured

In a recent attack in a Katsina community, bandits shot a father, identified as Abash, and his son, injuring them during a raid that involved livestock rustling. The assailants arrived on motorcycles at sunset, firing sporadically and causing panic among residents, who fled into nearby bushes.

The victims were later evacuated to a hospital in Katsina metropolis for treatment. Eyewitnesses reported that the gunmen operated freely for hours without immediate confrontation from security personnel, despite residents making repeated distress calls to relevant authorities.

The attack left the village terrified, with many households losing cattle, goats, and sheep. Local leaders have expressed concerns over inadequate security presence in the area, appealing to both federal and state governments to deploy additional security personnel and establish a permanent security outpost in vulnerable communities across the Kankia local government area.

The Katsina State Police Command's public relations officer, DSP Sadiq Aliyu, assured that police operations would collaborate with security agencies to apprehend and prosecute the perpetrators.
