Nigerian Political Figures Advocate for Rotational Presidency to Promote Equity and Unity

Several prominent Nigerian political figures, such as Barau Jibrin, Femi Gbajabiamila, and Anyim Pius Anyim, are pushing for a rotational presidency in Nigeria to ensure fairness and balance in power distribution between the North and South regions. This call was made during a summit organized by the Nation Forum of Former Legislators (NFFL) in Abuja.

Femi Gbajabiamila endorsed the rotational principle, emphasizing its importance in managing Nigeria's diversity and political tensions. Anyim Pius Anyim also supported the rotational presidency, questioning why it has not been constitutionalized yet.

Barau Jibrin backed the call, highlighting how rotational arrangements have brought stability since the Fourth Republic. The forum endorsed Bola Tinubu as its sole presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections.

Babangida Nguroje emphasized the need to strengthen democratic governance in Nigeria's multi-ethnic and multi-religious society.
