Barcelona Secures Rodri from Manchester City for $87M

Barcelona has reached an agreement with Manchester City to sign Spanish midfielder Rodri for a fee of around 75 million euros ($87 million), as confirmed by a source from the Catalan club on Sunday. The 30-year-old, who played a crucial role in Spain's World Cup victory in July, is expected to have the transfer officially announced in the coming days.

Rodri, who won the Ballon d'Or in 2024, has been a key player for Manchester City since joining in 2019, contributing to their success under coach Pep Guardiola, including winning the 2023 Champions League and four Premier League titles among 12 major trophies. Barcelona's move for Rodri comes as a response to the injury of their midfielder Frenkie de Jong, who is set to miss several months.

Despite having two previous bids rejected, Barcelona successfully negotiated the deal on Sunday. Additionally, the club is anticipated to finalize a deal for Joao Cancelo shortly.
